If the system runs on a battery, it could need replacing. The battery should be around 13.8 volts fully charged and drop no less than a volt under load. Batteries with a lower voltage will cause the gate to run slower if not fully charged. If it is a 110V system, make sure all hinges are well greased. Remember due to safety specifications, gate are not typically able to travel faster than one foot per second.
