Why is there only one ball bearing in my hinge package?
The is only one ball bearing in the
hinge packages because of how the hinges are designed to be hung. The top hinge barrel will have the hole in the barrel facing up. This one will receive the ball bearing. The other barrel is mounted upside down. This is to prevent he gate from being lifted off its hinges. Gravity will prevent the hinge from riding on the ball bearing and thus eliminates the purpose of it in the bottom hinge.
