All of our swinging driveway gates get used with ball bearing hinges. If you purchase our 3x3 posts with hinges they come with hinge barrels pre-welded to the posts. Or you can purchase the hinge barrels welded to plates and bolt the plates onto existing posts or columns. Both styles the barrel is on the post or column and the J bolt goes through the frame of the gate.
