Are all gate opener control boards the same and interchangeable?
No, they are all specific to each gate opener and very rarely interchangeable. The main factors first looked at is the voltage supply to the motor, does it match the motors that you have. The second thing looked at how does the motor stop in the open and closed position. Some motors have a limit/rev counter combo, some have 2 limits, some have rev counting in both directions. And on top of that, if it does have limits does it have normally open or normally closed. These are all things that would have to match on motor and board.
Lastly even if both the motor voltage and stopping the motor in the open and closed is matching there is still the matter of obstruction sensing. Obstruction sensing is typically based on how motors amperage draw reacts to an obstruction. So the board will be looking for a certain amperage in a normal range and a different in obstruction range; if you motor amperage draw doesn't match what the board is looking for the motor could always obstruct or never obstruct which would be dangerous.
