The Zareba brand gate opener was a battery operated system. the first place to look in all battery operated gate opener systems when there are issues is the battery. The battery should be reading at about 13.2VDC and not drop more than about .2 volts under load. You can read it under load by placing your multi-meter on the battery leads and leaving them there as you cycle the gate.
