If you already have posts the most important measurement when designing a gate is the inside face of one post to the inside face of the other post. If you do not have posts and you are using our posts the most important measurement is the total area you want to have the posts and the gate; essentially outside face of post it outside face of post. This is typically in between two end fence posts or landscaping on opposite sides of the driveway.
