If this is a new installation of a gate opener then it sounds like the board is set up for Pull to Open and the operation of the Motors for Push to Open. You can test to see if this is the issue by turning off Auto-Reclose on the control board. If you turn off auto reclose and it stops reopening then the above is your issue and you should see how to change push vs pull to open for your particular gate opener.
