The Ranger HD is a gate opener designed for residential, light commercial, farm, and ranch use. It operates under a low voltage transformer or a 10 watt solar panel (sold separately). This gate opener is easy to install and it comes with the necessary components such as the 12 vdc linear actuator, 2 button transmitters, mounting hardware, and more. Also, the linear actuator is now equipped with a ball screw screwdrive which increases the longevity of the opener.

USAutomatic Ranger HD Single Swing Gate Opener

The Ranger HD (Ball Screw) is a unique gate opener with an innovative Ball Screw drive. We choose to sell this gate opener because of this unique feature in the ball screw version of this gate opener. Traditional electromechanical gate openers have a lubricated Acme Screw to drive the piston, this type of gate opener relies on lubricant to reduce friction. A Ball Screw type screw has small ball bearings riding between the drive screw and the “nut” attached to the end of the piston. A ball screw is significantly more efficient and virtually eliminates drag from friction and extends the life of the screw drive by a factor of 4. We recommend this gate opener in areas of high use such as lighter to medium weight commercial and high volume residential gate. Especially when solar applications are desired.

A great addition to ornamental iron, chain link, farm, ranch, and all other types of gates. This gate opener is solar friendly and easy for homeowners to install. The Ranger HD can be powered by a DC transformer (included) or a solar panel (not supplied). This low voltage transformer plugs into a battery controller and can easily provide 575 cycles a day without decreasing the battery charge. This unique design of the charging system allows the transformer to be installed away from the gate area if needed. This means that on AC charged systems, the transformer’s low voltage wire can be extended. The solar option allows you to install the gate opener in remote areas or in applications where you prefer to be solar charged. The battery charge controller included in this kit accepts either the DC transformer or solar panel and comes with a DC plug for easy installation. It also includes (2) LCR 2 button transmitters, photo eyes, and mounting hardware. Another great feature with this unit is the electronic limit control on board for an easier position adjustment. USAutomatic, LLC warrants this product to be free of defects in material for 3 years. Following this purchase, USAUTOMATIC, LLC will repair or replace the product free of charge including parts, shop labor, return to customer shipping, and handling.

The following tools and supplies are suggested in the manufacturer's manual for optimal installation. They are not provided by GateCrafters, however, most tools are available at local hardware stores for purchase or rental.

Welding is the recommended method of securing the linear actuator mounts to the gate and hinge post. Bolt on brackets requires frequent service to keep tight. They must be very securely attached (i.e. carriage bolts with lock nuts and washers). Lag type bolts are not recommended. Loose or unstable linear actuator mounts will result in improper operation.
