Generation 1
The Generation 1 Control Board is compatible with the light gray LiftMaster LA412 arm (see the blue control board image below). It serves as a replacement for all Generation 1 boards manufactured prior to July 2014. The Generation 1 Control Board is not compatible with myQ® technology and does not have a digital display. Key identifying features of Generation 1 Control Boards include the absence of a display and a typically blue color, although some versions may be red or green.

Generation 2
The Generation 2 Control Board, introduced in July 2016, replaces all boards in that generation. It is typically green, features a digital display in the upper-left corner, and is compatible with the LiftMaster LA412 arm (charcoal gray with a burgundy stripe).
Replacing a Generation 1 board requires replacing the entire control box, remotes, and accessories. Built-in myQ® connectivity requires the 828LM Internet Gateway (sold separately).

Generation 3
The Generation 3 Control Board was introduced in January 2016. It is burgundy in color and is compatible with the LiftMaster LA412 arm, which is charcoal gray with a burgundy stripe. The board features a two-digit LED display and dedicated connection points for the arms.
The Generation 3 Control Board is also myQ® compatible and requires compatible photo eyes to be connected for proper operation.
