Each of our gates are constructed from 6061-T6 rust free wrought aluminum alloy. 6061 is a high grade alloy with a yield strength of 35,000 lbs/sq inch. That is twice the yield strength of mild steel and 6063 Aluminum. Why do we use such strong alloy? Because we know we have to offer the best to our customers. You get the best in resiliency and durability, so we can provide you with a quality, dent resistant, and charming gate. We also understand that shipping an item sometimes isn't the easiest of trips. We use this higher grade of aluminum to prevent shipping damage.

Most companies use steel or 6063 aluminum which is weaker and easier to bend, it dentseasier and does not take the daily abuse of 6061-T6. Because other companies forget you, the consumer, can't be worried that your gate looks overused, old, and decrepit. When your gate gets bumped or hit it should form back to its original shape. With 6101-T6, when pressure is exerted on the material it yields to the pressure, and when the pressure is released it regains its original frame. Not only do we use the best alloy we can - we also have other great things that come included.

Each gate comes standard with safety hinges. These special grease fitting equipped ball bearing hinges are extended to prevent pinch points. Ball bearing hinges are provided to permit smooth and effortless longitudinal movement of the gate. These hinges provide a higher level of quality over other hinges and less chance of becoming jammed or rusted. Additionally this hinge design allows for a higher level of adjustment ensuring a perfect DIY installation. Each set is rated at 1000lbs, far over the heaviest of GateCrafters.com's gates. The hinges are also equipped with grease fittings. Grease fittings allow for easier lubrication of hinges and assure all bearings are receiving lubrication. A ball check in the head of the fitting prevents dirt and grit from getting to the hinge barrell. Dirt and grit is a constant battle in an outdoor environment; the hinges that GateCrafters.com includes help assure your gate will swing freely each and every time.

As a trusted industry leader, DuPont's powder coating formulations offer environmentally responsible coatings that reduce waste while providing a superior end finish. Powder coating is the process by which powdered pigment is applied to and cured on a surface. It consists of a mechanical and/or chemical treatment of the surface to remove impurities and contaminants followed by the application of the pigments. Then the material is cured at high temperatures which makes the pigments flow together and react chemically to form a tough polyester coating. Powder coating is preferred for certain surfaces because it creates or contains virtually no volatile organic compounds and does not sag or run with thicker coats. The overspray can also be recycled so there is little waste, making it less expensive and creating less hazardous waste. The design tool will give you an accurate price that will change with every item added or subtracted. Proceed with checkout. When gate production time is approximately 6 weeks out, our gate design staff will contact you to help you position your ornaments and go over your design to be sure we are producing the driveway gate that you will love on your property. After confirmation of design we will usher your gate through the manufacturing process and update you as it moves through our various quality checks and completions.
