These posts can be used as “dummy” posts, or you may attach your own gate hinges and hardware (not included). A “dummy” post is placed on the opposite side of the driveway from the hinged gate to provide a symmetrical appearance. You may also purchase your own hinges, however, Gate Crafters offers posts with hinges already attached for added convenience.
Installation requires setting the post approximately 2 feet deep into the ground, resulting in a finished height of about 6 to 8 feet after installation, depending on the post size selected.
The posts are constructed from 11-gauge steel with a 1/8-inch-thick wall. They are galvanized to match the purchased product and come standard with a post cap.

Gate posts ordered on their own will ship raw (uncoated). When ordered with a powder-coated gate, the posts will be powder coated to match.
